Our Wings

by Brighton Manaba

We are born with all wings to fly
But they are torn apart as we journey in life
They are broken even before we have to use them
As we pass through thorns and thistles rough bushes of the forest called life
As the time of take-off comes, the time for us to explore the wonder of the sky
Standing and staring at the runaway of our lives,
We try to push up with our broken wings,
But no matter how much we try no no no
We can’t fly with broken wings
At this moment all hell breaks loose, we feel darkness all around us
And what hurts most is knowing, if only I could fly,
But no no no we can’t with wings torn apart
We sense our destinies above us but to reach them, oh they are just too high
No matter how hard we try to fly no no no we can’t fly with broken wings
We cry to the heavens, only if you be a little compassionate with us
For from whence we were made and given wings
From whence we were given a purpose to fly
Heaven help us fly
Heaven help us fly.

From Within

by Ancelen Siziba

All thoughts frozen, my heart
beating but with no sound
A greeting from you melting
all my thoughts away

My heart pounding, I feel
weak holding on I'm
crushed. All my thoughts
possesed by you

You are my want and not my need
my pain but not my healing.
Happiness is what I feel
but you are not mine

Letting you go wounded me
Knowing you're not mine
healing me . It's all from within

.

Lost in Translation

by Brighton Manaba

In a world where hearts reside,
Two souls embarked on a fateful ride.
Their love, once ablaze with pure delight,
Now obscured by a dimming light.

They spoke in words, so soft and sweet,
Yet failed to grasp the true heartbeat.
Each possessed a different tongue,
A symphony of confusion left unsung.

One sought solace in tender touch,
The language of affection, oh, how much!
Caresses, embraces, gentle caress,
But the other yearned for words, no less.

The first, with arms outstretched so wide,
Offered hugs, a shelter by their side.
But the second, lost in their own head,
Sought solace in silence instead.

Misunderstanding seeped into their core,
Leaving their hearts bruised, forevermore.
Each tried to express love's ardent flame,
But their attempts fell short, void and tame.

Like ships adrift in a vast, tumultuous sea,
They yearned for the other's empathy.
But the love they shared was lost in translation,
Drowning in a sea of miscommunication.

One craved affirmation, a word or two,
To feel valued, cherished, and wholly true.
Yet the other believed actions spoke louder,
Words mere whispers, easily devoured.

Unspoken desires and unmet needs,
Tears flowed silently, like forbidden deeds.
They danced in circles, like shadows in the night,
Blinded by their own love's fading light.

In a whirlwind of confusion and despair,
Their souls tangled, stripped bare.
For love, in its infinite complexity,
Requires understanding, delicate as a symphony.

Oh, the tragedy of love gone astray,
When love languages lead us astray.
If only they had taken the time to see,
To comprehend each other's plea.

Alas, their story remains incomplete,
An elegy for love's bitter defeat.
A reminder of the pain of misunderstanding,
Where two hearts yearned for love's mending.

So let this be a lesson to us all,
To listen with intent, to rise and not fall.
For love's language knows no bounds,
But understanding is where it truly resounds.
